Four schools will be heading to Perry Monday evening to join the hosts in the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Jazz Choir Festival.

Students from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Bondurant-Farrar, Greene County, and Woodward-Granger will bring their vocal jazz talents to the Perry Performing Arts Center for the competition. The respective shows will be critiqued by a panel of three judges, who will give recognition to the outstanding performers at the end of the event. The show is open to the community, with admission being $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for students. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit the Perry vocal music department, so Director Jenn Nelson encourages the public to attend. There will also be concessions available in the commons, sponsored by Perry’s SkillsUSA and Technology Student Association (TSA) programs.

The performance schedule for the evening will start with Woodward-Granger at 5:30 p.m., Bondurant-Farrar at 6, the first ADM group at 6:30, and Greene County at 7. There will then be a short break, followed by the second ADM group performing at 7:45, and the Perry choir wrapping things up at 8:15. Nelson says the festival will be enjoyable for audiences of all ages, and she hopes the community will come and support the jazz choir program.
