Greene County plays Southeast Valley in Gowrie and Paton-Churdan is home in Churdan with Coon Rapids-Bayard. Those are the first round pairings of the two high schools located in Greene County for regional girls’ basketball. All 1A, 2A, and 3A pairings were released yesterday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

The Rams are assigned to Class 3A Region 3. They are 1-17 and they’ll play the 6-13 Jaguars in Gowrie on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. in a game heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The winner meets number three ranked Roland-Story or Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) in Story City on Feb. 19. Number 15 Hampton-Dumont, Iowa Falls-Alden, Jesup, and Oelwein are the other teams in Region 3.

P-C is 13-6 and assigned to 1A Region 8. The Rockets will be at home on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. vs. 4-15 Coon Rapids-Bayard. The winner meets either Glidden-Ralston or Ar-We-Va (Westside) on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in Churdan. Top ranked and 18-0 Newell-Fonda sits atop the Region 8 bracket and is the likely opponent on Feb. 21 for whichever of the four teams mention above is still playing.
