The Yale and surrounding community has the chance to help support a local resident who recently lost his home and belongings in a fire.
A generator-caused fire consumed the home of Jim Vaughan in Yale on January 23rd, an event that was reminiscent of a fellow Yale resident, Kendall Kipp. In 1994, a much similar incident happened to Kipp’s farmhouse, and now he wants to pay the generous spirit he received forward, “It’s quite an experience if you’ve never been through it. So when this happened to Jim I thought, ‘Well, this is an opportunity for me to do the right thing and make sure that he was acknowledged and given the opportunity as I was to have a little benefit and have the community and county all come together and help him out a little.’”
Along with the Yale City Council and Community Club’s help, Kipp is hosting a Community Breakfast Benefit for Vaughan this Sunday from 7 a.m.-noon at the Yale Community Building. They will be serving pancakes, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice, and milk for a free will donation. Those who cannot attend the breakfast but would like to support Vaughan can send donations to Farmers State Bank, PO Box #110,Yale, Iowa 50277, and make checks payable to Jim Vaughn.
