After losing 85-15 at Gilbert in December, the Greene County girls were hoping the home court would treat them better. It didn’t matter where the game was at the Tigers romped to a 70-9 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ basketball victory over the Rams on Tuesday night in the middle school gym in Jefferson. The action was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Gilbert is now 14-3 overall and 9-2 in the league while the Rams are 1-10 in conference games and 1-16 overall.
Gilbert, ranked eighth in Class 4A, had 11 players score led by 11 each by Ava Hawthorne and Clair Roske. Greene County junior Sadie Wilson had six points on a pair of three-point goals. Brianna Habben added two points and Eliza Carlson had one.
The Rams unofficially had 32 turnovers to nine for the Tigers. The Rams made just three of 22 shots from the field while Gilbert was 29 of 59 with eight three-pointers.
