Two local youth will compete in a state-wide contest later this month.

The Elks Northwest District Hoop Shoot contest was rescheduled from January 18th in Storm Lake, due to weather. The event took place this past Saturday at the Greene County Middle School gym. The winners from each of the age and gender divisions qualified for the state contest. Among the winners were Alivya Smith of Paton-Churdan for the 10-11-year-old girls division, and for the 12-13-year-old boys the winner was Drake Levan of Perry. 

The state contest will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at Grinnell College. The winners from there will move onto the regional contest in March. See the list below of the first and second place recipients.
