Greene County Supervisors approve agreement on February
The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, the Board discussed the Greene County Early Learning Center new building project. It was mentioned a letter of support was received by the Board. County Attorney Thomas Laehn cautioned the Board to establish criteria that needed to be met for them to financially contribute toward the project. The Board had previously informally approved to help with partial funding of the over $2 million project. Formal approval is expected at a future meeting.
Following a public hearing, the Board then approved the Emergency Management budget for the 2021 fiscal year as presented.
The Board next heard about the Fun Friends Mentoring Program through New Opportunities. Coordinator Chamaine Sims said the program matches voluntary mentors with kindergarten through 18-year-old mentees in several counties, including Greene. Currently there are two matches and five kids waiting for a match in Greene County Sims said adult mentors are asked to give about four hours per month.
Finally, the Board discussed several department and non-departmental budget proposals for the 2021 fiscal year. They decided to freeze the current funding for the Greene County Libraries Association, with $72,100 as the base amount, along with $1,000 per county library for a total of $6,000 in additional funding. The Supervisors agreed that the directors for Veteran’s Affairs, Conservation, and Information Technology should each receive a three-percent salary increase.
