While the Perry Chamber of Commerce just wrapped another successful Bike Ride to Rippey last Saturday, their busy February continues with a pair of events this weekend.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says the shared theme of the events is to get people in the doors of member businesses. The first is Friday from 4-7 p.m., with the latest edition of the Chamber’s Sip and Shop events. Pasutti says businesses in downtown Perry and a few beyond will be open extended hours and offering complimentary beverages. “We’ve had some really great success with Sip and Shop events this fall, and the merchants are excited to continue that kind of every other month (and) seasonally throughout the year. (It’s) just a way to extend those shopping hours and get people out and about.”
The following day, the downtown businesses will open their doors to the public from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for the 17th annual Perry Chocolate Walk. Pasutti says the tradition is fun for both the community and Chamber members. “Tickets are available at all of the participating businesses for $10. That gets you around to get sweet treats at each location. So that again brings folks from all over the place to shop and check out our downtown, (with) new businesses since last year. And it’s just exciting to continue to showcase that.”
Pasutti also reminds people that the Perry Grand 3 Theater will be showing “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., which is free to Chocolate Walk participants, and $2 for everyone else. There will also be a winter farmers market in the Town/Craft gallery during the Chocolate Walk hours.
