Fans of movies and books unite as the Jefferson Public Library and the Sierra Community Theatre partner together for some special events.

Library Director Jane Millard says the movie theater is showing “Little Women,” which is based off the book by Louisa Mary Alcott. The movie is showing through February 6th. Then from February 21st-March 5th is “The Call of the Wild” which is based off the book by Jack London. Millard encourages everyone to check out the book and see the movie, or vice versa. Millard notes, anytime they can partner with other groups to promote reading, it’s a good thing.

“There’s so many things going on in Jefferson and in Greene County, so many ways that we can work together. A lot of people think there’s nothing to do in a small town. I think there’s so much to do in a small town, I can’t make it to all of the events. But it is nice to say, ‘Hey we have something in common, let’s do an event together.’”

Millard invites anyone who wants to check something out of the library, but doesn’t have a library card, can get one for free.
