You may not know this, but the Hy-Vee grocery store in Perry offers reusable bags for purchase, which not only help reduce waste, but also support local nonprofit organizations.
For the month of February, the proceeds from the Reusable Bag Program will benefit the Dallas County Conservation Foundation. From now until February 29th, $1 from each bag sale will go to Conservation, which will then be used to fund their assortment of environmental education programs held throughout the year. These programs are free for the public to attend, and donations and fundraisers such as this are the primary reason they can stay that way. The bags cost $2.50 each, and can be picked up near the produce section of the store.
Each Hy-Vee store in the country offers the Reusable Bag Program, which the corporation feels is a good way to help the local communities, while also cutting back on the store’s environmental footprint. Dallas County Conservation is excited to be the program’s nonprofit of the month, and expresses gratitude for their community partner.
