Thursday, January 30th

3:47am: An officer assisted a deputy at 1681 Newberry Ave. with a domestic situation.

4:10am: Jeff Niles reported a subject passed out in his car at the posted stop sign at 220th and Elm Street. The officer made contact with an overtired driver, who had fallen asleep at the intersection.

6:15am: Autumn Dolph reported a dog running loose near 104 North Locust Street. The officer did not locate the animal.

7:55am: An officer assisted a deputy with a Car vs. Deer Accident at 220 th and Oakland Ave. The deputy handled the accident report.

9:05am: Home State Bank requested a Welfare Check on a male at 1000 West Adams Street. The officer made contact with the subject and contacted a family member to assist him.

11:30am: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.

9:47am: The Greene County High School reported another student had been caught with a vaping device and suspended for 3 days. The officer issued Daniel Ferguson of Scranton a Citation for, “Minor Using Vaping Product.”

10:19am: Home State Bank reported an elderly Jefferson female had fallen victim to the Publisher’s Clearing House Phone Scam. The victim had been advised of a 2 Million Dollar Winning Prize. She had been instructed to purchase several gift cards and provide the caller with the numbers on those cards. The cards totaled a loss to the victim of $6839.25. She also had mailed a personal check to a subject for $3200.00. Information will be forwarded to the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.

2:27pm: Rollie Shaw reported his dog had gotten loose from him at 209 East Vest Street. The animal returned home later on its own.

4:20pm: Nathan Riesberg reported a stray dog near 220 th and Mulberry Streets. The officer located the dog just north of the city limits, heading north.

4:55pm: Rich Rubens reported a pile of belongings on the curbside at 306 West Washington Street. He advised a rifle was among the items lying near the curb. The officer made contact with a resident at the address. He advised the items were placed curbside for a family member to pick up later. The officer learned it was an air rifle in the pile and asked him to keep it inside so a child did not grab it.

5:02pm: Judy Kolbeck reported a deceased cat in the roadway n the 300 Block of North Chestnut Street. The officer removed the carcass and properly disposed of it.
