An Audubon man received several citations after a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning in Guthrie County.

According to Iowa State Patrol, at about 6:45 a.m. 34-year-old Richard Jessy Card was driving a Kia Sedona north on Frontier Road west of Guthrie Center. Card was approaching Frost Lane when he attempted to negotiate a curve in the road downhill and lost control due to the snow-covered road. Card’s vehicle crossed the centerline, leaving the roadway and entering the north ditch, where it crossed over a small creek and struck the creek dirt ditch, coming to a rest. Card sustained a minor injury and was out of the vehicle by the time agencies arrived. A female passenger sustained a severe facial injury and additional injuries to her shoulder, chest, and legs, and was removed from the vehicle with a body sled. Both occupants were transported to Guthrie County Hospital by Panora Emergency Medical Services. They both admitted to not wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident, and Card failed to provide insurance information for the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Card was cited for failure to maintain control, failure to use a seatbelt, and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
