Greene County visited Monroe Tuesday night and faced the PCM teams in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy basketball doubleheader. Both games were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with the home teams sweeping the action.

The Rams lost the girls’ game by a score of 67-18. The Rams played a second straight game without leading scorer Izzy Bravard due to illness. Junior Sadie Wilson had three three-pointers for nine points, half the team total. Greene County had 27 turnovers in the first half and finished the game with 36. The Rams were seven of 25 from the floor while PCM went 27 of 56 with just 13 turnovers. PCM improved to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the conference while the Rams fell to 0-14 and 0-8.

The boys’ contest went to PCM by a 57-50 score. The Rams were up 19-12 early in the second quarter before the Mustangs went on a run to lead 30-27 at halftime. The Mustangs led the entire second half, but never by more than nine points. Mustangs’ seniors Derek Brown with 23 points and Jason Stafford with 17 combined for 40 points. Greene County had nine players score points, but none with more than 11. Carter Morton, Bryce Stalder, and Richard Doughery each had 11. PCM is now 10-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play. Greene County fell to 3-11 and 1-7.

The girls host Saydel (Des Moines) tomorrow night in JV/varsity make up action in the middle school gym in Jefferson. Neither the Eagles or Rams have won a game. Greene County has been without leading scorer Izzy Bravard the last two games due to illness. The varsity game will be broadcast on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage starting around 7 p.m.
