In just a few days, a couple thousand people will be descending upon the City of Perry to take part in the 43rd annual Bike Ride to Rippey, or BRR Ride.

“The Original Winter Ride” is again being organized by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, and they remind participants that it will happen regardless of weather conditions. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says things are almost ready for the event, though she’s still looking for a few volunteers to help out. Pasutti feels BRR is one of the most important events of the year for Perry, and she says it’s always a fun time. “We’re just really excited about continuing this, it’s a great fundraiser for the Chamber (and) it brings a lot of people in. It’s just a fun thing to keep going and keep building upon. And it’s always weather-dependent, but we have fun with it anyway, and (there’s) a lot of diehards that join us no matter what!”

Registration and check-in on Saturday will begin at 7 a.m. at Hotel Pattee, and the ride will commence at 10. Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will once again be present for BRR. We will broadcast live outside Soumas Court from 8-10 a.m., and will play music until 11. As a reminder, if you sign up before Saturday the cost to participate is $35 per rider, and registration the day of is $40. Registrants will receive this year’s BRR t-shirt, a BRR pin, a raffle ticket to win $500 in Perry Bucks, free hot chocolate at the Hy-Vee halfway stop, admission to the McCreary Community Building for the day, support services, and discounts from local merchants.
