Kuemper Catholic improved its girls’ basketball record to 4-11 while Greene County fell to o-13. The Rams hosted the Knights in non-conference play in the middle school gym in Jefferson last night and the result was a 69-17 Kuemper Catholic win.

Leading Greene County in scoring was junior Brianna Osterson with eight points. She scored the first eight of the game for the Rams on a pair of three-point goals and a two-point basket. Junior Brianna Habben had three points with two each by juniors Maggie St. Clair, Sadie Wilson and Eliza Carlson. The Rams were charged with 28 turnovers. Greene County was without its leading scorer Izzy Bravard. The lone senior on the team was home ill.

The Knights had nine different players score points led by senior Mallory Badding with 18 points. Senior Maci Wittrock had 11 with 10 each from freshman Catherine Mayhall and junior Kyndal Hilgenberg. Kuemper turned the ball over just 10 times.

Coach Tyler Westhoff’s team has three more games this week. It’s a Greene County girl/boy doubleheader on the road in Monroe tonight vs. PCM on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow. Saydel visits the middle school gym in Jefferson this Thursday night in girls’ only basketball, and neither the Eagles or Rams have a win this season. Friday means a girl/boy twin bill in Story City vs. Roland-Story.
