A reminder of an event coming up tomorrow in Greene County.
There’s still time for volunteers to sign-up to help with the Point in Time survey. Tomorrow from 5:30-7:30pm and part of Thursday morning, volunteers will be at various locations across Greene County to identify any homeless individuals. Anyone who is identified as homeless can receive resources to assist them. Additionally, those individuals can also receive food and hygiene items.
The stations where the survey will take place include the Central Christian Church in Jefferson, St. Brigid’s Parish Center in Grand Junction, the Paton-Churdan Elementary School in Churdan and the Scranton Community Center. Volunteers are also needed to go to other sites like bridges and structures not meant for human habitation.
Homeless individuals are considered as those living in a primary nighttime residence that is not meant for human habitation, living in a private or public operated shelter for temporary living arrangements, congregated shelters, transitional housing, hotels and motels or fleeing from a domestic violence situation.
Anyone interested in helping can contact Greene County Disabilities Coordinator Ellen Ritter at 515-386-5686.
