Monday, January 27th

4:24am: A caller advised a Stolen Vehicle was parked at 406 West Head Street. The officer located the vehicle, which was not entered as a Stolen Motor Vehicle. The owner was contacted to verify this.

5:15am: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 300 American Ave. All was fine at the facility.

5:43am: Ames PD requested assistance from Jefferson officers in locating a vehicle with an Attempted Murder suspect driving it. Cell Phone pings showed the vehicle was enroute to the Jefferson area. The officers were later advised the phone pings showed the suspect was east of the Jefferson area heading south towards Hwy. 141.

6:53am: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 704 West Sunset Road. The officer found all doors and windows to be secure at the residence.

8:29am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop near Elm and Madison Streets resulting in Shawn DeMoss of Rippey being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

9:46am: An officer assisted Daniel Tasler in gathering work related items from 404 East Lincoln Way Street, per his No Contact Order.

11:00am: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.

3:43pm: A Traffic Stop was performed near Elm and Russell Streets resulting in Bryce Laughlin of Jefferson being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

3:49pm: Kathy Jackson reported someone yelling near 203 West Harrison Street. The officer located a teacher and a few students outside, no one needed assistance.

3:58pm: Caden Emmick reported possible Fraudulent Activity on his checking account. The officer is gathering more information and investigating the report.

4:39pm: Justin Lopez reported being harassed by an ex-girlfriend. The officer determined it was not harassment, as she was speaking to his new girlfriend’s sister, not him.

6:11pm: A Traffic Stop was performed with a vehicle near State and Vine Streets. During the stop the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A “Probable Cause Search” was conducted of the vehicle. The officers located baggies of suspected marijuana in the glove box and seized it. An officer also was given a baggy of suspected marijuana from one of the subject’s person. Juvenile Charges have been sent to juvenile court for (2) 16-year-old male juveniles for, “Possession of Controlled Substance/Marijuana 1st Offense – Serious.” The officer also cited Ethan Sloan and Austin Higgins-Owens, both of Jefferson for, “Minor Using Tobacco.”

10:20pm: Debbie Dennhardt reported a couple arguing in a vehicle at 606 Hwy. 30 East. The officers made contact with the pair, who advised they were having a conversation, not an argument.
