There will be a Guthrie County Showdown tonight in Panora.

Both AC/GC basketball teams will be making the quick trip to Panorama for a varsity double header. The girls will take the court first in what’s expected to be a very good matchup. Panorama comes in ranked 14th in Class 2A with an 11-2 record, winning 11 straight since dropping their first two games. The last time these two teams played AC/GC gave the Panthers all they could handle before several clutch free throws from Payton Beckman put the game away 52-48. AC/GC will look to do what no other AC/GC team has done in taking down the Panthers. Panorama hasn’t lost to another school from Guthrie County since 2009.

In the boy’s matchup, AC/GC will look to avenge a 81-66 loss to Panorama earlier this season. Both teams are looking much different since their last date. The win improved Panorama’s record to 5-1, the Panthers have gone 3-4 since then. AC/GC fell to 1-5 after the loss, but found their rhythm recently. For AC/GC to come away with a victory, they’ll have to do a better job of stopping Malachi Peasley who torched the Chargers with a 30-point performance in their first game.
