For the first time in program history, a Ram wrestling team reached 20 dual meet victories in a season. Greene County is 20-4 after winning two of three dual meets in Story City on Tuesday night. The previous program record for most wins in a dual meet season for the Rams was in 2012-13 when that team went 19-5.

Coach Zach Beekman’s team started the evening with a 51-18 victory over West Central Valley in non-conference action. Next was a 52-28 win over host Roland-Story, then North Polk (Alleman) stopped the Rams 46-33. Greene County finished 5-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference dual meets, good for third place behind Gilbert and NP.

Five Greene County wrestlers went 3-0 on the night. They were McKinley Robbins (106), Brenner Gallagher (113), Brady Stauffer (138), Sawyer Schiltz (220), and Matt Naberhaus (285). Garrett Tasler (132) wrestled for the Rams for the first time in nearly two full years and won his only match. Braden Gallagher (120) and Will Hansen (152) both were 2-1 on the evening, and John Sprague went 1-1.

The HOIAC tournament is next up for the Rams on Friday, January 24 in Jewell at South Hamilton starting at 5 p.m. Wrestling will take place on three mats.
