Less than a month following the resignation of Carl Behne as the Greene County Medical Center CEO, a search for a new CEO has begun.
The Board of Trustees met in a special meeting last week to formally approve Behne’s resignation, install three individuals as the interim triad leadership team and begin the CEO search process. Since the medical center is a UnityPoint-Des Moines partner, they continue to be involved in the search process. UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Director of Rural Health Resources Tracy Warner continues to spend 2-3 days per week at the medical center and has taken the lead role in the CEO recruitment process to identify qualified applicants. Board members Bill Raney, Doug Hawn and Kim Bates were appointed to the CEO search committee.
Behne resigned as CEO following the December Board of Trustees meeting. Since then, Board Chair Jim Schleisman was in contact with UnityPoint to make decisions, such as appointing the interim leadership team with Chief Nurse Executive Katie Heldt, Chief Operating Officer Christa Simons, and Chief Administrative and Financial Officer Heather Paris. It wasn’t until last week that the Board had a quorum to formally approve Behne’s resignation. Behne accepted the position of Chief Strategy Officer for Exemplar Care, PLC in West Des Moines.
