Both AC/GC basketball teams got two big wins Tuesday night.
The Chargers made the trip to Ogden to square off against the Bulldogs for the second time this season. The girls took the court first and were looking to complete the season sweep. AC/GC jumped to a quick 7-0 lead. They saw that lead diminish to one points after back-to-back three pointers. The Chargers called a timeout to slow the game down and finished the first quarter on a 13-0 run. AC/GC then put on a clinic in the second, scoring 25 and putting the game out of reach. They improve to 8-4 on the season with the 60-31 win. Kendra Campbell led the way with 13 points, including an eight-point second quarter.
The boys finished the night on a mission to avenge a one-point loss to the Bulldogs earlier this season. Both teams exchanged blows in the first with AC/GC taking a three-point lead into the break. The Charger defense held Ogden to seven in the second and took a 15-point lead into halftime. Ogden was not planning on laying down. They outscored the Chargers 21-12 in the third to cut the deficit to six entering the final eight minutes. AC/GC’s offense came alive and ran away with the game, winning 68-50 aided by a 24-point fourth quarter.
AC/GC will be back in action Thursday when they play their final non-conference game of the year against CAM.
