A trio of juniors have been leading the AC/GC Wrestling team.
Through the New Year and beyond the Chargers have found consistent success from three individuals. AC/GC has two state qualifiers on their roster. Seth Danker qualified for the big dance during the 2017-18 season before injuries limited him last season. Gunnar Larsen was the lone underclassmen to represent the Chargers last year at the state tournament. Fellow teammate Cale Rowley is also showing potential he could make a run for Des Moines this season. Danker is currently sporting a 19-3 record, including a first-place finish at the Coach Riley Invitational and Tri-Center Invitational in the 126 pound weight class. In the weight class ahead of him, Larsen has also been wrecking havoc. He currently is ranked eighth in Class 1A individually by IAWrestle.com with a 20-4 record and finished in first place at the WCAC Conference Tournament. Rowley is 20-9 on the season, still searching for his first gold medal this season. Although he’s fallen short of first place throughout the season, the extra work that comes with wrestling in the consolation bracket could prove vital down the stretch.
The Charger wrestling team will be back in action Tuesday at South Central Calhoun.
