The Greene County Sheriff’s Office had a busy weekend, responding to several winter weather related calls.
Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio they responded to less than 20 calls of vehicles that were in the ditch, due to the snow and ice-covered roadways. Williams points out, no one was injured in any of the incidents that were reported. He notes, freezing rain made for extremely dangerous situations for motorists. Williams says with the blizzard conditions Friday night through Saturday, a tow ban was also in place and travel was not advised.
According to the National Weather Service, Jefferson had four inches of snowfall on Friday. The National Weather Service says another round of snow is expected this week on Wednesday and Thursday. The one to count on for severe winter weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
