A Dallas Center man has recently been sentenced to prison for a drug conviction in Guthrie County.
Court documents show 37-year-old Jeremy Edward Evans pled guilty to an amended charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class C felony; and failure to affix drug tax stamp, a class D felony. Evans has been ordered to serve no more than 10 years for the first offense and five years for the second offense, to be served concurrently at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale. He shall be credited for all time already served. His fines have been suspended, though he must still pay law enforcement surcharges and a D.A.R.E. surcharge. All other charges have been dismissed.
Evans was originally charged with a class B felony for the July 25, 2019 incident when his vehicle was searched by a Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy at Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Bayard. A K-9 search found 7.8 grams of meth and drug paraphernalia.
