Roads are still partially covered with ice and blowing snow in Greene County and a wind chill advisory across the state remains in effect until noon today.
Highs in the single digits and patchy blowing snow are expected today, with wind chills dipping into 15 to 25 degrees below zero tonight for the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area. Those cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes, according to the National Weather Service. Dallas County Emergency Management has opened a warming center at the Dallas County Human Service Campus, located at 25747 North Avenue in Adel, for residents who have lost power this weekend. The center will remain open until power can be restored. Individuals are encouraged to bring table activities and phone chargers. Those in need of transportation to the warming center can call 515-993-9894 or 515-993-4567.
