Due to extended power outages within Dallas County a warming center has been opened Saturday.
Dallas County Emergency Management is hosting the warming center at the Dallas County Human Service Campus, located at 25747 North Avenue in Adel. The center will remain open until power can be restored. Warming centers are facilities where people can temporarily go during periods of extreme temperatures to get out of dangerous weather conditions. Individuals are encouraged to bring table activities and phone chargers. Those in need of transportation to the warming center can call 515-993-9894 or 515-993-4567. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for Dallas and Guthrie counties from midnight until noon Sunday, with expected wind chills as low as 25 degrees below zero. The one to count on for severe winter weather coverage is Raccoon Valley Radio.
