The inaugural Greene County High School Athletics Hall of Fame induction was held Thursday night at Greene County High School. Kristi Kinne-Hayes, Trisha Waugh-Pipkins, Brent Mac Lagan, the 1994 Jefferson-Scranton Class 2A girls’ State Champion track & field squad, and retired teacher/coach/activities director Bill Kibby were in the initial class of honorees.

Kibby visited with Raccoon Valley Radio and said his induction was a complete surprise and he’s very honored. When asked about a special memory from his 22 seasons coaching football here, he pointed to the Nov. 1999 Class 3A quarterfinal playoff game where the underdog JSPC Rams upset number one ranked and undefeated Harlan, 6-0. “That Harlan game really stood out. The way we won that at the end was really special. We had mobs of fans on the field at Harlan after the game and they finally had to shut the lights off to get us off the field. It’s a game I’ll always remember!”

Nominations for the 2021 HOF Class will be accepted starting next Fall.
