Greene County has cancelled all activities scheduled for today and tonight due to the weather. That means no Greene County basketball games vs. Gilbert, and no Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony during the games. The good news is Thursday night’s reception at Greene County High School for the inaugural HOF class took place as scheduled and the honorees were presented their plaques at that time.

The first members of the HOF were former teacher/coach/activities director Bill Kibby, Trisha Waugh-Pipkins, Kristi Kinne-Hayes, Brent Mac Lagan, and the 1994 Class 2A girls’ State Champion track & field squad. Head Coach Mavis Sawhill and team members Kris Curnyn-Hagedorn and Brandy Meinecke-Peterson spoke on behalf of the team, which had 12 members in attendance, along with Sawhill and assistant coaches Tim Buenz and Kelly Simpson. The four individual inductees also spoke to the crowd.

Nominations for the 2021 Hall of Fame class will be accepted next Fall.
