The number 15 ranked ADM girls Tigers basketball team had a tough first three quarters, as their opponent Bondurant played extremely tough basketball and made life hard for the Lady Tigers, beating them every quarter. Then the 4th quarter came along, and ADM outscored the Lady Bluejays by 22-7 to complete a phenomenal comeback winning 59-56.
Junior AJ Smith had only two three pointers on the season coming into the game, but knocked down two last night, including maybe the biggest for the Tigers team all season long at 24 seconds to give the girls the lead 57-56. ADM trailed by 17 at one point midway through the third quarter of play, but a key 8-0 in the 4th was huge to getting back into the game, as Abbie Hlas supplied all of the points.
Hlas led the team in scoring with 18, Bertman chipped in with 13. ADM as a team hit their most threes of the 2020 season so far.
In a season in which ADM was 7-0 against non-state ranked opponents and 0-3 against top teams in the state, it had to be a good feeling for the Lady Tigers on Thursday night. They will not be traveling tonight to Boone as that game has been cancelled due to the snow, but they are scheduled to be back on the court next Tuesday when they go to Dallas Center Grimes.
