With several inches of snowfall predicted for Jefferson tomorrow and Saturday, residents are reminded of the City’s snow ordinance.
Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says the snow ordinance goes into effect anytime there is at least one-half inch of accumulated snowfall.
“We generally will not go out and plow until there’s a couple of inches (of snowfall). But after a half an inch, the ordinance is in effect. If we’re going to come out and start plowing it’s possible they could get a ticket. They should get them (their vehicles) off of the street, get them up in a driveway, get them up just in the parking (easement area of their property) if they have to, but they need to be off the street.”
The snow ordinance is over when the snow has stopped falling and the streets have been cleared from curb to curb. Morlan notes for the downtown square, parking is prohibited from 2-6am when the snow ordinance is in effect. He adds, this is when crews are clearing the square of snow.
