The Guthrie Center City Council approved setting a public hearing on property taxes for February 10th.
The Council also approved resolutions for annual appointments, records retention, and a transfer from their solid waste to general fund accounts. They later approved to go with a box culvert installation as recommended by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to replace a collapsed culvert. City Administrator Laura Wolfe says this project will now be sent back to the engineer to finish a hydrology report. An asbestos removal quote was then approved for $4,750 from August Enterprises, LLC for the former fire hall. This is part of the City’s process to address the building that was struck by a dump truck last fall.
The Council also approved the lowest bid from Caterpillar for about $800 to service all four of the City’s generators, and the purchase of snow removal equipment for $7,645. Finally, the Council approved signing a letter of engagement with Rural Housing 360, which helps finance and build modular homes for prospective owners. They also approved to give $1,000 to each resident that builds a home through Rural Housing 360.
