A Des Moines man recently violated his probation after being sentenced last month for an incident in Jefferson.
According to court documents, 41-year-old Daniel Eduardo Westrum pled guilty to lesser charges of two aggravated misdemeanors for forgery and third degree theft. He was sentenced to 180 days in the Greene County Jail with credit for time already served for the theft charge and his two year prison sentence was suspended and Westerum was placed on two years of probation for the forgery charge. The sentences were to run consecutively.
The charges stem from an incident in August of 2018. Westrum stole a check for Central Service and Supply in Des Moines and switched his name on the check and cashed it at a local bank in Jefferson. The Jefferson Police Department was notified.
Westrum’s probation officer reported he had violated his probation by not notifying the probation officer of a change of residence and his whereabouts were unknown at that time. Westrum has since been arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
