A Greene County Middle School student recently won a local essay contest.

Fifth grader Zack Stalder won the American Legion Post #11 Fifth Grade Flag Essay contest. He earned $30 for his winning essay on what the U.S. flag means to him. Essay Chair Barb Labate says American Legion representatives visit with middle school students on the flag presentation to make them more aware of what the flag represents and how it should be displayed.
