Tonight is the first competition of 2020 for the Greene County varsity basketball teams and wrestlers. Hoops is at Nevada on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. Nevada is 5-5 in girls’ basketball and 4-5 on the boys’ side. The Greene County girls are 0-7 and the boys are 1-6. Neither of the Rams’ teams has won a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference game and both of tonight’s contests are of the conference variety.
The wrestlers begin an extremely busy stretch of competition tonight with action every day or night the rest of this week except for Wednesday. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams go to Woodward tonight to face Woodward-Granger, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and Nodaway Valley starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday will have the Rams at home in the middle school gym for a quadrangular at 5:30 p.m., followed by tournaments on Friday and Saturday. Friday is the North Polk Round-Robin Tournament in Alleman, and Saturday is the PCM Invitational in Monroe.
