In honor of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the end of the month, the Perry Public Library is hosting a free event this week.
On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., the library will hold a screening of the film “Alice’s Ordinary People,” featuring a special guest: the film’s director Craig Dudnick. Library Director Mary Murphy says the movie tells the story of civil rights activist Alice Tregay, and she believes it’s an important piece to remind people of the basic human right to equality. “The person who directed this film is going to come, and we’re going to screen the film and then talk about it. And it’s about civil rights. It should jog our memory every time that we think about civil rights that we should honor and respect everyone’s rights.”
The film screening will be held in the library’s large meeting room, and registration is not required. To learn more about this and other upcoming events at the Perry Library, listen to Wednesday’s and Thursday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County programs at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
