The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors took action on several annual organizational items Thursday.

The Board appointed Mike Dickson and JD Kuster as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively. They also set paid holidays for 2020, and decided to initiate an official newspaper contest with the Guthrie County Times Vedette, The News Gazette, and The Stuart Herald. Among board and commission appointments, the Supervisors directed Human Resources Director Pam Lane to advertise a vacancy for the zoning commission and the zoning board of adjustment.

The Board also reappointed Lance Levis to the Guthrie County Regional Airport Authority Board. To avoid having to appoint all three of the County seats on the same year, the Board decided to appoint Levis to a four-year term, recently appointed Vicki Gubser to a three-year term, and Beverly Wild for a two-year term, who fills a seat recently made vacant by Leora Laughery. They also approved appointing members to the compensation commission, authorizing County Auditor Marci McClellan to pay fixed charges and other claims without prior Board approval, gave County Engineer Josh Sebern the right of final acceptance, and approved the construction evaluation resolution for the master matrix for large animal confinement operations.

Finally, the Board delegated which Supervisors will attend each of the March 3rd special election information meetings, and briefly discussed the fiscal year 2021 budget process.
