The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Thursday morning for their first regular session of 2020.

The meeting began with the Board appointing Supervisor Kim Chapman as the Chairperson for the year. Chapman led the remainder of the meeting, which included the approval of the 2020 insurance renewal through the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP), as presented by Brad Bengtson with the True North Insurance Agency. Following that, the Supervisors approved their own committee assignments for 2020, as well as official depositories and newspapers, and representatives to the Eminent Domain Compensation Commission.

The Board then approved the appointment of County Engineer Al Miller as their representative to the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance (CIRTPA) technical committee, and Assistant Engineer Andy Case as the alternate. They tabled action on assignments to the technical committee for the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Finally, the Supervisors approved a construction evaluation resolution, and set January 21st at 9:30 a.m. as the date and time for a public hearing on an amendment to the local option sales and services tax ordinance.

The next regular meeting for the Dallas County Supervisors will be this coming Tuesday, though they will also commence budget meetings on Monday.
