A Colorado man was arrested for several driving violations after allegedly crashing his car into a ravine near Guthrie Center.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at about 3:30 a.m. December 25th, a Deputy was running radar on Highway 44 on the east side of Guthrie Center, when 37-year-old Adam Joseph Stough was driving a Nissan Rogue at a high rate of speed. While following Stough, the Deputy clocked him driving 70 miles-per-hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone. After initiating a traffic stop, the vehicle fled and the Deputy pursued, following the suspect into a field northwest of Poplar Avenue and 200th Street. The Deputy lost sight of the vehicle, and a short time later it was found wrecked in a ravine with two occupants. Stough told law enforcement another male was the driver and had fled the vehicle on foot. The passenger, 22-year-old Shelby Lynn Brusman, advised that Stough was the driver and was intoxicated. Stough then was struggling to breath, and Panora Emergency Medical Services responded and medically cleared him. He was reportedly uncooperative at the Sheriff’s Office, refusing all field sobriety and breathalyzer tests.
Stough has been charged with driving while under the influence and eluding law enforcement, both serious misdemeanors; as well as speeding, failure to maintain control and driving with a suspended license, all simple misdemeanors. Brusman is charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. Stough was arrested and taken to the Audubon County Jail. He also faces a probation violation charge for a Guthrie County marijuana offense that occurred in 2012, and is wanted out of Colorado.
