A Perry Police Officer used a taser to subdue a suspect following an alleged incident Friday night.
According to the department, officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at 6:02pm in the 900 block of Central. After officers separated the individuals, 29-year-old Scotty Lee Hays continued to be combative with officers and kicked one of the officers in the leg. A taser was deployed to control Hays, and paramedics then treated him for possible injuries.
During the investigation, officers found out that Hays went to the residence and assaulted two of the occupants while attempting to enter the residence. Another individual had a valid no contact order against Hays.
Hays was arrested and charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for third-degree attempted burglary, a serious misdemeanor for assault on a peace officer, and simple misdemeanors for two counts of simple assault and violation of a no contact order. Hays was booked and remains in the Dallas County Jail under a $2,000 bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
