The Guthrie County 4-H Foundation invites the community to celebrate 2020 and the future for its area youth with a prime rib dinner fundraiser.

The Foundation is raising funds for a new static building at the county fairgrounds, and the Fair Board has promised to match $100,000 for the project if the Foundation raises $50,000 by March 15th. Foundation Chairperson Megan Irlbeck shares why they seek to have a new facility, “The current building, it sits in a floodplain and so it floods almost every year so we get a lot of mold and things every year that we need to clean out. There’s holes in the roof that need repaired. It’s an old building that it’s served its purpose and it’s just got a lot of build up of the age that just needs some repairs and they’re getting to be more substantial as the years go on and so it’s time for a new building.”

Besides for the annual county fair, Irlbeck says the building is used for 4-H club meetings and other events. She hopes that with a new facility with updated heating, ventilation, air conditioning and a new kitchen, the building can be utilized more frequently year round. The prime rib dinner will be on Saturday, January 4th at the fairgrounds events center. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance from any Guthrie County 4-H member. There will also be a live auction and 50/50 raffle.
