The Greene County Historical Society has wrapped up 2019 and is looking forward to 2020.

The Historical Society held a total of 11 programs: eight monthly programs in different Greene County communities, and three Sunday programs at the historical museum in Jefferson. Historical Society Executive Director Roger Aegerter reported several activities that took place at the museum for 2019. There were 702 visitors to the museum, with the farthest individual coming from New Zealand. Of those, 20 states were represented. The largest Sunday program included 48 people for Jefferson Building Official Nick Sorensen’s “Buildings Around the Square.” Over 150 Greene County High School students toured the museum and 650 volunteers hours were recorded.

A program to kick off 2020 will be held on February 12th by Jed Magee on his collection of President Abraham Lincoln. The monthly programs begin in April on Spring Lake with Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers as the presenter. Other events include the Greene County Fair in July and the Threshing Bee event towards the end of the month.
