Perry Lutheran Homes recently received a helping hand for their Meals on Wheels program, thanks to a large donation from a local business.
Osmundson Manufacturing and owner Heather Bruce presented a gift of $3,000 to help provide hot meals to homebound elderly and disabled people in Perry and Northern Dallas County. PLH took over the program earlier this year after the dissolution of Dallas County Homecare Services. While they do get some funding from the County, individual donations like this one ensure that the daily meals are paid for without putting a strain on the operating funds for the Lutheran Home.
PLH Chief Operating Officer and Administrator Melissa Gannon said they were thrilled to receive the generous offering from Osmundson, noting that the funds go a long way to help them bring both food and friendly faces to those they serve. For her part, Bruce said her company has long been invested in helping the vulnerable people in the community, and she felt supporting the Meals on Wheels program was a natural extension of that interest. Bruce added, she became aware of the program’s need for funding through local media like Raccoon Valley Radio, and quickly contacted Perry Lutheran Homes to see how she could help. To donate money to the program: you can mail a check to Perry Lutheran Homes, 2323 Willis Ave, Perry, IA 50220 and put “Meals on Wheels” in the memo; text the word “GIVE” to 515-320-8256; or click the link below to donate online.
