2020 will be a big year for many reasons, not the least of which will be the nationwide census. To accomplish this task, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently named two Dallas County representatives to be on the 30 member Census Complete Count Committee.

Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson and Adel attorney Scott Hall were among those appointed. The purpose of the committee is to promote participation in the 2020 Census, and to educate and raise awareness of the program with the public. Reynolds emphasizes that an accurate count of the population is important for redistricting and allocating billions of dollars in federal funds. She adds that Iowans have typically been good at participating, and she’d like to see that continue in 2020.

The Census Committee will be chaired by Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg, with Secretary of State Paul Pate serving as vice-chair. Peterson, Hall, and the other members of the committee volunteered their services.
