The West Central Valley School District underwent some administrative changes this fall with the resignation of superintendent Lance Ridgely and the addition of co-superintendent responsibilities for middle and high school principals Anthony Lohse and Rusty Shockley.
Lohse shares what’s been valuable from this change, “I’ve really enjoyed learning more about the district, being in my 11th year here I’ve known a lot about the different buildings but actually acting as a superintendent now it’s my responsibility to learn a lot more about the district and so I’ve been able to see some of the really good things that are going on at WCV at a closer look. It’s my responsibility to be there and figure out what is going on, making sure I’m well aware of all the aspects of everything going on and all the different departments in the district. So it’s really opened my eyes to a lot of new things.”
Lohse and Shockley aren’t sure how long the current superintendent structure will last, but that topic may be discussed by the School Board during a workshop scheduled January 8th, according to Shockley, “I think that January 8th piece is going to be huge for us you know we’ve got some decisions to make coming up with the HVAC problems we’re having at Dexter and Redfield, you know the parking lot discussions, those types of things that are going to be more long-term decisions. So I think sitting down, coming up with a plan, whether it’s a three-year or five-year plan as to which direction the district is going to go is going to be huge for us.”
The pair says since the administrative change, communication has improved among all the administrative staff, and they are grateful for all the teachers and support staff’s positivity throughout the school year.
