Joe Biden's campaign stop in Perry in December of 2019
There was a standing room only affair Sunday evening in Perry, as former Vice President Joe Biden brought his Presidential campaign to La Poste.
The venue was bursting at the metaphorical seems with people wanting to hear from the Democratic nomination hopeful. The event was also attended by former Iowa Governor Tom Vislack and his wife Christie, who have both publicly endorsed Biden’s Presidential bid. Christie got things going, introducing the Vice President and asking the attendees to consider supporting him as well. Biden himself then spoke, and talked about why he feels he’s uniquely equipped to repair a divided United States. “From the start of my campaign, I said something that I want to talk about tonight. I’ve said that we need to unify this nation, we have to unify the country. And from the moment I got in the race that was the focus, and I was told at the time that’s a bit naive. But I think it’s even more true now.”
After Biden’s speech, Governor Vilsack spoke to the audience, explaining the reasons he decided to support the Vice President’s bid for the oval office. He emphasized Biden’s experience, the established international relationships he has, and his empathy for others. Biden is one of 15 candidates vying for the Democratic nomination for President in the June 2020 primary election, each of whom hope to come out on top in the Iowa Caucuses this February.
