A Perry holiday tradition is returning this Wednesday, with the annual Community Christmas Dinner.
Organizer Deb Miller says they’ll once again hold the free meal in the Perry Elks Lodge on Willis Avenue from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Offerings will include ham, turkey, sides, and desserts, all of which have been donated by local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Miller says free-will donations are accepted, but any proceeds will be given to the Perry Area Food Pantry. She encourages as many people as possible to attend, saying it’s good food and a good atmosphere. “Well I think you’ll come out and you’ll see all your friends and the festivity of joining together for one cause. And I kind of have used this demonstration of: we’re not Democrats or Republicans there; we’re Perry residents all joining together to celebrate our lives here in Perry. And thanking each other for being a part of giving and taking whatever we need to do to make our community better. So that’s really what we’re doing is just sharing that day.”
Miller adds, for those who are homebound they will deliver meals at no cost, they will just need to call the Elks Lodge at 515-465-3791 the morning of to request it. They also have volunteers who will pick people up from their home and transport them to the meal.
