Today marks the shortest day of the year, and for the longest night a local land trust is hosting a celebration this evening.

Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids is kicking off the official start to winter with a large bonfire near the Oak Ridge House, located at 1564 125th Street. Attendees will get to talk about what winter and the coming of longer days means for each of them. The discussion will be followed by snacks and refreshments.
