Booker's recent stop in Adel on December 22nd
United States Senator Cory Booker addressed a capacity audience Friday morning at the Adel Family Fun Center, as he kicked off his “Lead With Love” bus tour around Iowa.
The Senator from New Jersey and Democratic Presidential hopeful stopped in for a public meet and greet. The event started with Dallas County Democratic Party Chairperson and owner of the bowling alley Bryce Smith giving his official endorsement for Booker’s candidacy. Booker then discussed his current objective, which he said is less about policy and more about intention. “This is a moment to me that is a moral moment, and that’s why I’m running. I’m running because I think that in order to get the big things done, we have to have a revival of civic grace in this country. We have to energize a more courageous empathy for one another. We have to recognize that the lines that divide us as a nation are no where near as strong as the ties that bind us. The call of our country right now is the call to put more ‘indivisible’ back into this ‘one nation, under God!’”
After his speech, Booker took some time to answer questions from attendees, and then took selfies with any who wanted one. His visit kicked off a busy weekend of campaign visits in Dallas County, with South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttegieg and former Vice President Joe Biden holding events in Perry Sunday. The Senator is one of 15 individuals vying for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the June primary election, each of whom is hoping to do well in the Iowa Caucuses this February.
