Every year, the roughly two-week period of winter break is typically a popular time for people to take vacations. With that in mind, the Perry Police Department reminds residents they offer a no-cost service to give vacationers some peace of mind.
Police Chief Eric Vaughn says they offer vacation check-ins at any time of the year, though they tend to get more requests during the winter and summer months. He says when people are heading out of town for extended periods, they just need to supply the police with basic information such as when they’ll be gone and if they expect anyone to be at their home while they’re away. Officers will then take care of the rest. “So you can either call or stop by and give us that information, and then we’ll come around periodically while you’re gone and just kind of check on your residence to make sure everything’s okay. So it’s just kind of a free service we do for people here in town.”
