Both Panorama basketball teams came out with a victory against Guthrie County foe AC/GC.
The Panthers made the quick trip to Guthrie Center Friday evening in the final game before the holiday break. The girls got the night started in a battle of 4-2 teams. The Panthers took a quick 6-0 lead after a pair of three-pointers in the first minute. AC/GC would find their rhythm and end the quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 12-8 lead into the first break. Panorama would close the gap and tied the game at 26 going into halftime. After each team scored 10 in the third quarter, the game would enter the fourth quarter in a stalemate. A huge quarter from Panorama’s Payton Beckman eventually put the game on ice for the Panthers as they escaped AC/GC with a 52-48 victory. Beckman led the way for Panorama with 22 points, including 10 in the 4th quarter. For AC/GC, they were led by EmmaKay McClain and Alaina Bunde who each had 13 points. The Panorama girl’s basketball team officially concludes the 2010 decade without a single loss to a Guthrie County School.
The boys then took the court to wrap up the double-header. Panorama jumped to a quick 23-11 lead after the first quarter. Despite a few runs by AC/GC, Panorama was able to keep the Chargers at bay. Panorama’s Malachi Peasley had a breakout performance and led all scorers with 30 points.
Both schools will enjoy a few weeks off competition and will be back in action the first Friday in the new year.
