The Adel Water Department will be working on a water main project today, which will cause several residents to be without water for an extended period.
The interruption will be centered on the intersection of North 12th and Rapids streets, and will include most of the neighborhoods between Court and Locust streets and 10th and 5th streets. The City advises that the shutdown will have direct and indirect effects on the distribution system of the region. It will take effect no earlier than 9 a.m., and service is expected to be restored by 3 p.m. As part of the maintenance, water works staff will be flushing water mains to clear the lines to the best of their abilities.
However, residents could still see some discoloration of their water due to the disturbance of old pipes. Once service is restored, the City encourages people to flush their lines until the water runs clear. Adel staff apologizes for any inconvenience, and anyone with questions or concerns can contact City Hall at 515-993-4625.
